Radar Systems Engineer

Baron Services has an opening for a radar systems engineer with 5-15 years of experience.  Must possess a BSEE (minimum) or equivalent.   This position requires a motivated, fast learning, self-starter that can work tasks on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight.  Must be able to work as part of a small engineering team and assume many responsibilities from high level system design to board level design.  This position is very hands-on and candidate must be experienced with this level of work.

The successful candidate will have experience/capability in many of the following areas and must be willing to learn in areas where they are less proficient:

  • RF design and analysis, primarily between 2.7 and 5.8GHz, at both the discrete and modular component level.
  • RF analysis using Keysight Genesys software (or similar) including sensitivity, noise figure, etc.
  • RF down conversion
  • Intermediate frequency digitizers
  • Matched filter / FIR design and setup
  • Transmitter trigger definition and alignment
  • High Power transmitter (>350KW) integration, test and support
  • Radar system calibration
  • Radar system level design
  • Participate in system and hardware level design reviews.
  • Knowledge of RF test equipment
  • Data transmission including, Ethernet, fiber optic, RS-422, etc.
  • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting support for radar technicians
  • Working with vendors to resolve component/system related issues as they arise.
  • Developing and executing factory and site acceptance test procedures.
  • Experience with Linux Operating System and writing scripts
  • C++ and Java software development
  • Management of small projects
  • Writing System level documentation
  • Proposal writing support
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout (Eagle PCB)
  • Microsoft Office

Graphic Artist

Baron Services, Inc. is currently searching for a Graphic Artist who can to join our growing team.

We are looking for a creative, energetic, self-starter to support our mission of saving lives. That support will come through dynamic broadcast weather graphics and creative elements allowing our clients to explain the science of Meteorology. The individual will work to create animated and still 2D/3D graphics elements for television weather displays.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of design principles and current software/hardware tools including Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of the Broadcast Weather industry, animation and motion graphics, including 3D software like 3D Max is a plus. Must be willing to meet critical deadlines and move easily from one project to another.

Radar Technician

Immediate Supervisor: Radar Manager
Department: Radar
Supervises: None
Classification: Nonexempt

Position Purpose: Responsible for ensuring optimum network usage and quality for Doppler weather systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Integrate, install, repair, service, and upgrade Doppler Weather Radar equipment including transmitter/receiver cabinets, antennas, pedestals, Signal Processors, cabling, etc.
    2. Troubleshoot, repair and test associated radar mechanical & electro-mechanical assemblies.
    3. Work from operation sheets, schematics, assembly drawings and test specification
    4. Support high power RF testing, system testing

Required Abilities:

  1. Ability to travel extensively (domestically and internationally)
  2. Ability to climb towers at heights greater than 200 feet with tools and equipment
  3. Ability to understand and work with electronic test & measurement equipment
  4. Ability to work from complex assembly drawings, schematics, assembly/ upgrade procedures
  5. Ability to solder to Military specifications
  6. Ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools

 Required Experience/Education:

  •  High school diploma or equivalent
  •  Minimum two years related experience

 Working Conditions:

  1. Required to use personal protective equipment (fall protection) on job sites
  2. Work at heights of 200 feet or greater
  3. Extensive travel (including international)

Baron provides comprehensive weather solutions to clients globally including radar, data integration, displays, value added weather data, weather modeling (including numerical weather prediction, air quality, and hydrological modeling) as well as alerting and public outreach solutions. Previous international sales experience with government agencies and local agents is important. Meteorological and/or Engineering background is also important. Positions requires extensive travel abroad. Foreign language skills are a plus.
