President and Chief Executive Officer
Bob founded our company after 22 years of broadcast meteorology experience. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Bob has been a long-standing member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), and in 1982 received the AMS Seal of Approval for Television. In 2010 he was honored to receive the distinguished AMS Fellow award for outstanding contributions to atmospheric sciences. In addition to being named a finalist for Inc. Magazine’s 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year award, he received the Entrepreneur of the Year-Southeast Region award from Ernst & Young in 2008.
Chief Operating Officer
John began his career at Ernst & Young LLP where he rose to the position of Senior Manager over a ten-year period. He then worked with a public company as the Director of New Business Development. In this role he traveled extensively internationally forming, buying and selling operating units of the company. He joined Baron as Chief Operating Officer in June 2000.
Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer
Bob is a 1991 graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in Atmospheric Science. He spent the first 15 years of his career working directly in the field of commercial weather forecast services in various positions ranging from Staff Forecaster/Software Developer to Weather Services Manager to Director of Operations for Surface Systems Inc. and Quixote Corporation. Bob joined Baron in 2006, and in 2010 he was promoted to his latest role, in which he provides leadership and direction in planning, developing, and executing strategies that support the corporate business objectives. Specific duties include directing and coordinating research and development of new and innovative weather detection technologies, weather data products, and weather display solutions.
President, Enterprise Solutions
Glen has worked for WSI Corporation/The Weather Channel Companies and Internet Broadcasting. He brings a unique background and expertise to Baron, where he focuses on our entire suite of digital products, including specialized content for web and mobile offerings, in-car telematics solutions, aviation and agriculture, among others.
Controller and Vice President of Finance
Renee is responsible for all aspects of the company’s accounting and personnel functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources, procurement and inventory control. Prior to joining Baron in February 1999, she was Senior Accountant and corporate Treasurer for RJW Manufacturing. She has also served as Area Resource Manager at Morrow Realty, where she received several awards for Best Financial Management and Top Achiever.
Vice President of Marketing
Kim Grantham has over 25 years of experience in marketing communications and strategic marketing and brand management working with technology companies. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. Post-graduation, Kim began her career working for Universal Data Systems, a Motorola Company, writing and producing the internal newsletter to strengthen internal communications and employee brand adoption. Kim worked at Intergraph Corporation, a global engineering software company as a Marketing Communications Manager. At Baron Kim is responsible for marketing strategy, brand management and guiding Baron’s award winning in-house marketing and design department. Kim is a graduate of the 2014 Leadership Management Academy.
Vice President of Broadcast Sales
Michael joined Baron in 2012. He has over 30 years of experience in the broadcast advertising and sales business, having worked Local, National and General Sales Manager for individual stations within Belo and Media General. He was Director of National Sales with the Media General Broadcast Group, overseeing both individual stations as well as group advertising deals. Michael also worked as Senior VP of the Southeast region for Blair Television, a national broadcast sales representative firm. He is working with broadcasters now to increase selling opportunities, utilizing Baron Critical Weather Intelligence as his primary focus.
