Baron Appoints Dan Gallagher as Public Safety Product Manager
Baron, the worldwide provider of critical weather intelligence, is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Gallagher to the newly created position of Enterprise Product Manager. Gallagher brings 18+ years of experience in meteorology, forecasting, and hands-on development of weather technologies to his new position within the company. The role was created in response to the continued growth of the company, the expansion into new industries and the creation of new product offerings for Baron’s business solutions.
Gallagher’s key responsibilities will include a strategic role in identifying potential data and services in Baron’s product suite. He will work closely with customers, conduct market research and generate product requirements. He will also determine specifications, and develop timetables, pricing and time-integrated plans for product introduction while assisting in developing go-to market strategies. Welcoming Gallagher’s appointment, Glen Denny, Enterprise Solutions President says, “Gallagher’s exceptional and broad experience, coupled with his deep meteorological knowledge will bring significant resources to our growth strategy. His innate understanding of product development cycles and understanding of the markets and applications will prove invaluable.”
Gallagher’s leadership experience in the weather industry and knowledge of the science behind Baron’s technology will allow him to excel in product development and his commitment to public safety. At Baron, he will be on the front end of product improvements and talking with customers about their needs. “I’m excited to be a part in expanding this side of the Enterprise division and the difference my new role can make to the business,” Gallagher says. “I believe having a forecasting background, and understanding the science behind our products will benefit me as I have an opportunity to make an impact on our customers.”
Gallagher earned his B.S. and M.S. in Meteorology at Saint Louis University in 2002. After graduation, he completed a summer internship with Aquila, an energy company, formerly located in Kansas City, MO. He then worked at Surface Systems Inc. as a forecaster. There, he forecasted pavement conditions and general atmospherics for clients throughout the U.S. in the transportation and energy industries. Gallagher began working at Baron in 2006 as a Data Services Meteorologist. He worked as a lead developer for a nationwide, patented product that determines real-time impact of weather conditions on roadways and other products that serve broadcast, aviation, marine, telematics industries and the public.
Besides work experience, Gallagher has long been active in the weather community. He was the president of the Huntsville chapter for the AMS and NWA in 2016. With this organization, Gallagher has provided numerous education opportunities and social events for students and the public. He has also been the Chair for the NWA’s Weather Analysis and Forecast Committee. Gallagher also was the co-chair for the NWA’s Programming Committee, which determines the content that the NWA produces for these events.
We congratulate Daniel on his position, and wish him well as he begins to move forward in the role.
